Apartment complex fire stopped by sprinkler system (Santa Rosa, CA)

A fire that began on Thursday morning was eliminated quickly by the building’s fire sprinkler. Shortly before 8 a.m. a pot on a stove caught fire, which activated the fire sprinklers. The sprinkler system doused the fire, and no injuries were reported.

Sprinklers make the difference in arson incident at jewelry store (Fresno, CA)

On Tuesday, June 3, a fire was intentionally set in the basement of a building that housed a jewelry store. Arriving firefighters found that three fires had been started and extinguished by the building’s fire sprinkler system; the gas line had also been cut. Fresno Fire Department Koby Johns said that it was very fortunate that the building was equipped with a fire sprinkler system. 

No injuries were reported.

Sprinklers save lives and property from arson (Redding, CA)

A molotov cocktail was thrown through the window of a District Attorney’s office early Tuesday morning. The arsonist first broke the window of the office before throwing the molotov cocktail into the office. The 3 a.m. fire was extinguished thanks to the fire sprinklers in the office with no injuries reported.

A fire began on the third floor of a hotel on Wednesday evening when a couch caught on fire. The hotel’s fire sprinkler system went off, and firefighters reported that the sprinklers quick action kept the fire damage to a minimum. The fire’s cause is under investigation.

A fire began in the electrical room of a county office building around 3 a.m. on Thursday, April 24. The facility’s fire sprinkler system activated and suppressed the flames. No injuries were reported.

Warehouse fire squelched thanks to sprinklers and fire crews (Oakland, CA)

A warehouse caught fire when a 23-cubic foot refrigerator inside of the building ignited early Thursday morning. The sprinkler system activated on the fire, and this quick action combined with the arriving firefighters response contained the fire within 20 minutes. There were no injuries. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Sprinklers assist firefighters to put out potential arson fire (Fresno, CA)

Fire crews responded to a reported fire at about 4 a.m. on Saturday morning to discover broken glass in its front windows and two small fires in the front and back of the building. The restaurant’s fire sprinkler system had contained the fire to their ignition spots, and firefighters were able to put out the rest. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Keola Park, a Fresno Fire spokesman, said, “The sprinkler did its job, which is good because the structure is connected to a strip mall, and the fire could have spread.” 

According to investigators, some money was taken from the restaurant, and the fires were set in separate locations. The investigation remains ongoing.

Apartment building saved thanks to fire sprinklers (Redding, CA)

When a resident of an apartment building left coconut oil heating on the stovetop, a fire ignited which then spread to the cabinets and microwave. The heat from the fire activated the overhead fire sprinklers, which eliminated the fire. 

“In this case, the sprinkler system saved the structure,” said Battalion Chief Cullen Kreider said.

A fire began in the electrical box at a restaurant on Sunday morning. Employees of the restaurant, which shares a building with several other businesses, were able to evacuate safely. According to the fire crews at the scene, the building’s fire sprinklers activated on the fire, preventing the damage to the building from being much worse. No injuries were reported.

Fire sprinklers limit damage and save lives in commercial building (Rancho Santa Fe, CA)

Fire crews responded to a mid-morning fire at a commercial building on Tuesday, March 4. Upon arrival, they discovered that the fire had been eliminated by a single sprinkler head. 

 

Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Chris Galindo said, “Fortunately, the fire protection system worked as it was intended to. The single sprinkler head provided the occupants with time to safely evacuate the building and kept the fire from spreading and causing further damage.”

 

There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire appeared to be accidental.
