Sprinklers save restaurant from fire (Westminster, CO)

Shortly before 2 a.m. on Monday, a duct detector activation indicated that there was a possible fire at a restaurant. A security guard who investigated the alert found smoke and called the authorities. Upon arrival to the scene, firefighters found the fire had been contained by two sprinkler heads and quickly extinguished it. 



Kitchen fire extinguished by single fire sprinkler (Arapahoe County, CO)

When firefighters responded to a home fire on January 13, the fire had already been eradicated by a single fire sprinkler. The fire began when a pot of cooking oil started on fire, which spread up the stove and cupboards. 


Sprinklers extinguish multiple fires set by arsonists at a high school (Kusa, CO)

Police are looking for the three individuals who broke into, vandalized, and ignited a fire at a high school after midnight on January 13. The vandals broke some windows in the school, vandalized the computer lab, and started multiple fires in the band room. The school’s fire sprinkler extinguished the fire before it could spread to other classrooms. No one was injured in the blaze.

Sprinkler system helps to save commercial laundry business from early morning fire (Grand Junction, CO)

Fire crews responded to a commercial laundry and linen service, about 1:10 a.m. and found an active fire inside a large bin containing clean rags and mop head, Battalion Chief John Williams said.
A fire sprinkler immediately adjacent to the burning bin activated, helping to keep the fire from spreading to other bins and pallets. Williams credited the fire alarm and sprinkler systems for alerting the Fire Department and keeping the fire in check, limiting the damage.

Arson fire in college residence hall controlled by sprinklers (Pueblo, CO)

A Colorado State University-Pueblo student was arrested late Sunday on suspicion of arson for allegedly setting fire to a residence hall on campus. At about 10:30 p.m. on Sunday police were dispatched to Culebra Hall on the CSU-Pueblo campus. When officers arrived they discovered an alarm was activated and sprinklers were going off inside the residence hall.

According to the affidavit, Cunningham said the man created a fireball by lighting a can of body spray and fuel he had on hand.  The fire eventually spread to a futon in the room and the fire activated the sprinkler system.

Sprinkler system makes the difference in apartment fire (Colorado Springs, CO)

A neighbor called 911 after hearing children crying and seeing smoke coming from the apartment unit. Firefighters say a neighbor was able to safety evacuate two children from the home. It’s unclear where the parents/guardians were at the time of the fire. The fire sprinkler system in the apartment contributed to the safe outcome of this fire, authorities said. The cause of the fire is not known at this time.

Sprinkler system controls commercial electrical fire (Fort Collins, CO)

A fire broke out early Wednesday morning in the First National Bank Building in Fort Collins. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the electrical room, which is located in the first floor of the garage. The fire sprinkler system was activated and helped extinguish the fire and stop it from spreading. Fire damage was limited to the electrical room.

Arson fire at medical center contained by sprinkler system (Englewood, CO)

An arrest was made in Englewood Friday afternoon in connection to an arson started by a burning Molotov cocktail. Police say the suspect threw the Molotov cocktail, through a window at 125 East Hampden Avenue around noon Friday. The building – which houses a Health One rehabilitation facility – has a full fire sprinkler system which contained the fire. There were no injuries.
