Sprinklers prove effectiveness in single-family residence fire (San Luis Obispo, CA)

Fire Department personnel responded to a structure fire at a single-family residence. Firefighters found a fire confined to the garage. A single residential sprinkler system activated and held the fire in check until firefighters arrived to completely extinguish the garage and check for hot spots. There were no injuries to fire personnel or the public.

Commercial building fire extinguished by sprinkler system (Santa Rosa, CA)

Firefighters responded to a fire at a commercial building in Santa Rosa on Monday night that was related to a marijuana grow operation, fire officials said.  The fire had burned in a room that contained a marijuana grow, but the flames had been extinguished by a single sprinkler head, according to the fire department.  A fire investigator determined the fire was sparked by misuse of electrical equipment by the tenants.

Sprinkler system extinguishes fire at cabinet-making business (Sacramento, CA)

A sprinkler system was credited with extinguishing a fire at a Rancho Cordova cabinet manufacturing business Monday night.  After forcing their way inside, firefighters found that a small fire at a work station had activated a sprinkler head and the fire had been extinguished.  No one was in the building when fire crews arrived.

Hotel laundry room fire contained by sprinkler system (Bakersfield, CA)

More than 400 people were evacuated from the Bakersfield Marriott after a fire broke out in the laundry room.  Bakersfield Fire Department crews were sent out to the hotel at about 7:30 a.m. regarding the fire.By the time crews arrived, the fire had been contained by the fire sprinkler system at the hotel.  No injuries have been reported.  Hotel guest were allowed to return to their rooms about an hour later.

Deliberately set fire at high school extinguished by sprinkler system (San Jose, CA)

A small fire at a San Jose high school Sunday evening was deliberately set, according to fire officials. Firefighters found that a side door on a theater building had been set on fire, melting the plexiglass window and damaging siding on the building. The fire had been put out by a sprinkler by the time firefighters arrived on scene. An arson investigator has determined the fire was deliberately set. There were no injuries due to the fire, according to San Jose Fire Capt. Rob.
