When they went inside, they found one fire sprinkler head flowing water close to machinery which had a small amount of fire underneath. Seven emergency vehicles responded to the scene at about 4:20 p.m. after smoke was initially seen near the top of the structure. A fire had broken out on the ninth floor, a flour processing area, the Ogden Fire Department reported. All employees were evacuated from the mill with no injuries. A sprinkler system was activated as crews from the Ogden and Roy fire departments worked on the blaze. The cause of the fire is still being determined by investigators.

The fire was extinguished quickly, and smoke and water damage were limited to the one apartment, Wright said. The fire likely started when food in the oven or on the stove was left unattended.

The building’s sprinkler system was able to contain the blaze until crews arrived and extinguished it completely, Degnan said. There is no visible damage on the hotel’s exterior, but it remains to be seen how much was damaged inside. Degnan is at the scene, but was still unsure if the fire broke out in a linen closet or in an individual hotel room.
