Fire sprinklers contain fire at clothing store (Ann Arbor, MI)

A downtown Ann Arbor clothing store was saved by the building’s fire sprinkler system. The fire, which originated in a garbage can, was contained by the fire sprinklers . Fire damage was limited and neighboring businesses did not sustain any damage. No injuries were reported.

Grocery store fire suppressed by two sprinklers (Oakbrook Terrace, IL)

*** NO MEDIA COVERAGE AVAILABLE *** The Oakbrook Terrace Fire Protection District reported a fire alarm activation at roughly 11:30 PM on Sunday, Nov. 25 at an approximately 60,000 square foot fresh market grocery store. A fire in the cooler / meat preparation area was suppressed by two ceiling mounted fire sprinkler heads. No hand lines were required for final extinguishment.

The Super Target store in Fishers has been evacuated due to a fire. The fire activated the store’s sprinkler system. Fishers Fire Department officials tell Eyewitness News the fire is out.

Sprinklers are being credited for limiting damage at a strip mall in after an overnight fire in Shakopee. Chief Rick Coleman says the fire may have been triggered by an explosion of some sort, but investigators continue to work the scene in search of an official cause. No one was hurt.

A fire at a liquor store was started when the vodka bottles acted as a sort of magnifying glass. They slowly started the fire with the cardboard display, as the ceiling fan fanned the flames. Thanks to a sprinkler system and a speedy emergency response, the fire in Burnsville never got out of control.

Ogden firefighters credited a sprinkler system for keeping a strip mall fire from becoming a major conflagration. “The sprinkler system did activate and extinguish the majority of the fire,” Deputy Fire Chief Eric Bauman said. While three people were evacuated from Beto’s, none was injured, Bauman said. “This is another example of the benefits of sprinkler systems in businesses,” he added. “The early activation of the business’ sprinkler system played a huge role [in preventing the] spread of the fire.”

Sprinklers suppress fire at University of New Hampshire marketplace (Durham, NH)

A fire broke out at a University of New Hampshire marketplace. Firefighters who arrived at the scene found smoke and steam coming from the building. Inside, the sprinkler system had already been activated. “One sprinkler had been activated and suppressed the fire. The origin was in the area of the cheese cooler,” Powers said.

A fiberglass cart filled with rags spontaneously combusted in one of the truck bays at dry cleaners. When firefighters reached the building, there wasn’t much of a fire. A few spots were still were smoldering, but the sprinklers had doused the truck bay pretty well, Fire Marshal Kathy Clay said. “The sprinkler system did its job,” she said.

Firefighters said the sprinkler system prevented a late night fire from spreading the to rest of the grocery store. Investigators were able to determine that the blaze was started by an electrical malfunction in the charger cord for a battery operated pallet jack in the loading dock area. The employees and customers were evacuated and there were no reported injuries.
