Retail, Shopping Mall Strip mall saved from extensive damage thanks to fire sprinkler (Lakewood, NJ) July 15, 2013 viking210 Fire and rescue responded to reports of a fire in one of the buildings in a strip mall. When they arrived, they found smoke coming from the eaves of the building and fire inside it, which was controlled to one area by the suite’s fire sprinkler. According to fire crews, had the building not had a fire sprinkler system installed, the damage to that building would have been much greater and would most likely have affected the other four businesses in the strip mall as well. According to reports, there were no injuries.
