Fire at manufacturing facility contained by fire sprinkler system (Conroe, TX)

A fire broke out at Pentair Industries on Saturday morning, and firefighters arrived to the scene at approximately 7 a.m. The origin of the fire was a filter drying oven, and the building’s fire sprinkler system activated and kept the fire from spreading beyond that point. Fire crews extinguished the remaining blaze, and no injuries were reported. 

The City of Conroe’s Fire Marshal’s Office reported that this incident displayed the effectiveness of properly installed and maintained fire sprinkler systems in reducing injuries, loss of life, and loss of property due to fire.

Sprinklers help to save high school building from fire (Honey Grove, TX)

Fire sprinklers put out a fire that erupted overnight in the server room of a high school the morning of Friday, December 13. No one was injured, and students were moved to the area middle school for classes the following day.

Firefighters were called to a fire on a seventh floor apartment on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 6. The apartment high rise has 17 floors, four of which were safely evacuated. The fire was contained to one unit, and the fire sprinkler extinguished the flames. No injuries were reported.

A small electrical fire caused an evacuation of all of the students at an elementary school on Wednesday morning. The fire was quickly eliminated by the school’s fire sprinkler system, and classes resumed that afternoon. No injuries were reported.

A fire began on Friday, November 1, inside a college laboratory at about 10 p.m. The building’s fire sprinkler activated and eliminated the flames by the time firefighters arrived to the scene. No one was reported injured in the incident, and classes in the building will resume as normal on Monday, November 4.

A resident of an apartment was cooking when grease spilled on the stovetop, and the grease then caught on fire. Fire crews were called to the apartment complex, and when they arrived, they discovered that the building’s fire sprinkler had eliminated the fire. No one was injured in the fire.

Fire sprinklers prove worth in restaurant arson fire (Austin, TX)

A break-in and attempted arson occurred in a restaurant in downtown Austin in the early morning of Monday, October 21. The fire was eliminated by the restaurant’s fire sprinkler system, leaving the establishment with limited damage. There were no injuries.

Sprinklers make the difference in restaurant fire (Plano, TX)

A fire which began in a downtown Plano, Texas restaurant early Sunday, October 13 morning was called in by a police officer who saw smoke coming from the building. 56 fire personnel arrived to the scene and were able to put the fire out within 50 minutes thanks to the restaurant’s fire sprinkler system which had already contained the fire. 

“The combination of fire sprinklers and the quick response of the firefighters made the difference in this fire,” Fire Marshal David Kerr said. “Fires occurring when businesses are closed usually have the greatest delay in reporting a fire.”

Sprinkler system contains fire at 50-unit apartment complex (San Antonio, TX)

Firefighters were called out to a reported fire at a local apartment complex Thursday morning. Police said a fire broke out in a single unit of the complex. The sprinkler system inside the room was able to put out the flames, however. SAFD said arson investigators may be called to investigate the fire.

A fire broke out in the laundry room of a high rise hotel during the early hours of September 17. The sprinkler system activated and extinguished the flames, and all 300 guests and employees were able to evacuate safely. The investigation is ongoing as to the cause of the fire.
