Damage minimized at aluminum fabricator fire thanks to sprinkler system (Beloit, WI)

American Aluminum Extrusion’s sprinkler system did its job, according to Deputy Fire Chief Bruce Hedrington.  “We had smoke 60 feet above the building when we were responding, but we didn’t see any fire because the sprinkler system did its job and knocked its down,” Hedrington said. “The sprinklers usually just kept it in check, but it did a great job.”  All employees were safely evacuated before firefighters arrived.

Sprinkler system contains third floor apartment fire (Chesterfield, VA)

“It could have been a disaster without the sprinkler system,” Battalion Chief Robby Dawson of Chesterfield Fire and EMS Fire Marshal’s office said. “More residents would have been affected and we would have been on scene at least two days doing an investigation instead of the few hours we were there. The sprinklers made the difference. The system saved lives.”

Sprinkler system prevents apartment fire from spreading beyond kitchen (Green Valley, AZ)

A sprinkler prevented a fire from spreading beyond the kitchen of a home in the Michelle Manor Apartments in Green Valley on Monday evening. The resident had been heating oil in a cast iron skillet when she went outside to check on the grill and visit with friends, according to the Green Valley Fire District. She returned to find the pan on fire and the flames too intense to extinguish. “Fires like this are a great example of how quickly a fire can be extinguished and how major loss of property or life prevented by sprinklers,” GVFD Operations Chief Chuck Wunder said.
