The Cape Coral Fire Department responded to a call of an early morning fire at a condominium complex. The fire had started in the kitchen of a second story unit and was contained to that area until fire crews arrived to extinguish the remaining flames.

A toaster oven was to blame for the start of a fire in a deli early Sunday morning. The restaurant’s fire sprinkler system contained the fire to the area of the toaster oven, and fire crews eliminated the remaining flames. Residents who lived above the restaurant were able to come back to their homes soon after, and no injuries were reported.

A fire that was reported in the early morning hours of Friday, May 3, at the Labor Department Building was eliminated before fire crews arrived thanks to the building’s fire sprinklers. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and no injuries were reported from the fire.

A fire that began in a storage room at Quad Med was likely caused by the malfunction of a heating element. When fire crews arrived, the fire had been put out by the fire sprinkler system. The responding fire department reported that the fire sprinkler limited the amount of damage caused by the fire.

Firefighters say they responded to a call early this morning at a high-rise senior citizen housing complex in Stamford after two people started a fire in their kitchen. Officials say the building’s indoor sprinkler system extinguished the flames by the time emergency crews arrived. No one was hurt.

Fire crews responded to an early morning blaze on the city’s west side. As Quinn Campbell reports, fire officials say this blaze could have been much worse if it weren’t for a properly working sprinkler system in the building.

Sprinklers do their job after lighting causes fire at Old Town Hall (Exeter, NH)

A lightning strike from a quick-moving storm early Tuesday morning caused the fire at the old Town Hall, according to firefighters.  The fire was reported in a second-floor storage room around 8:30 a.m., and it was brought under control quickly by the building’s sprinkler system.

 

“This building is like holy ground,” Dean said. “We’ve put so much work into it. When something happens, everybody swarms to the scene.”

 

Comeau said the building has a history of fires and its sprinkler system has done its job each time.

“There have been three fires and all were controlled by the sprinkler system,” he said. “We’re very fortunate.”

An early morning fire that brought police officers and fire crews to the scene was limited to the furniture store’s office and storage area thanks to the building’s fire sprinklers. Police are reporting that the store’s front door was damaged leading them to believe that the fire was deliberately set. No injuries have been reported.

A fire that started in the kitchen of a restaurant activated the unit’s alarm as well as its fire sprinklers. The sprinkler system extinguished most of the fire, which was contained to the kitchen, before fire crews arrived.

In 1998 in the same location, a different restaurant had a fire break out in their kitchen. However the outcome of that fire was quite different – that restaurant, which did not have fire sprinklers, sustained an estimated $1.2 million loss. Comparatively, the restaurant fire that was protected with a fire sprinkler system sustained an estimated $5,000 in property loss.
 
According to Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue spokesperson Ileana LiMarzi, “The fire was significant enough that three sprinkler heads were activated. Without the activation of the sprinkler system this fire would have quickly spread throughout the structure and potentially destroyed the nine other businesses housed in the building.”

No injuries were reported due to the fire.
