Naperville, IL – Sprinkler system activated for structure fire; No injuries reported
After upgrading the alarm, the first arriving company deployed a handline and forced entry into the suspected fire unit. Fire companies ensured there was no fire extension into adjoining units and confirmed there were no occupants in the structure. At 10:23 p.m., the incident scene was deemed under control. Fire companies remained on the scene until 11:39 p.m. to ensure the occupancy was secure and there was no further fire hazard.
The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department and the Naperville Transportation, Engineering and Development Department (TED). The Warrenville Fire Protection District, Lisle Woodridge Fire Protection District and Bolingbrook Fire Department provided station coverage during the incident. The cause is still under investigation. There were no injuries to any civilians or firefighters while operating on scene.
Spring Hill, TN – Sprinkler system holds fire in check at early afternoon apartment fire
Spring Hill Fire Department responded to a reported apartment fire early Saturday afternoon.
The fire was contained to the balcony of the affected unit. Investigation found that discarded smoking materials in a flowerpot started the fire which spread to a plastic rocking chair.
Fire was held in check by the sprinkler system until SHFD Units arrived to complete the extinguishment.
No extension into the building or other hazards were found.
Spokane, WA – Sprinkler system activated for arson fire assisted living facility
Three different fires in Spokane broke out on Mother’s Day keeping firefighters busy all day.
The first fire broke out at Fairview Assisted Living at 1617 North Calispel Street where firefighters discovered a resident intentionally setting fires.
The call came from five different alarm activations around 6:20 a.m. that activated their sprinkler system and stopped the fire from spreading further.
Residents inside the center were evacuated as firefighters quickly put out any additional flames.
There is a current investigation with the Spokane Police Department into the person responsible for intentionally setting the fire.
Wadsworth, OH – Sprinkler system activated for fire at recycled rubber manufacturer; No injuries reported
The company is located in the 300 block of 1st St.
Fire officials told 19 News six workers were in the building when the fire started. All escaped without injuries.
“The first arriving crews, arrived on the scene, there were flames through the roof, set up a defensive attack, got the first knocked down, trying to get all the hotspots,” said Wadsworth Assistant Fire Chief Richard Potter. “There was fire in the machine.”
Firefighters remained on the scene for two hours.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
There is no damage estimate at this time; however, fire officials said there is plenty of water damage from the building’s sprinkler system and from the fire crews.
It will be a couple of days before it dries out enough to turn on the electricity and resume activity, said Assistant Fire Chief Potter.
Sandestin, FL – Sprinkler system activated for fire at resort and spa; No injuries reported
A fire broke out Monday at a local resort and spa in Sandestin.
South Walton Fire District officials say around midnight, crews arrived on-scene to an electrical fire at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort and Spa, on the 6th floor of the Spa tower.
The fire suppression system in the room had reportedly contained the fire, but smoke was still present on several floors.
Firefighters say the fire’s room of origin was accessed with the help of resort staff, securing the sprinkler system, evacuating guests, and extinguishing any other signs of the fire.
SWFD says no firefighters or civilians were injured, but the fire caused damage to the tower’s electrical system, and water damage was sustained from the sprinklers.
Guests staying in the damaged tower were reportedly relocated to other rooms for safety as the tower needed to be repaired.

Lynchburg, VA – Sprinkler system activated for fire at nursing home
At around 7:45, Lynchburg Fire crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire at the facility in the 2000 block of Langhorne Road.
LFD says a fire had started in one of the rooms of the single-story structure and was being contained by the sprinkler system. Responding fire crews quickly finished extinguishing the blaze, but smoke from the fire spread and forced the evacuation of the rest of the facility.
Two residents were taken to Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment of minor smoke inhalation. There is no update on their condition yet.
LFD said there were over 70 patients who had to be evacuated during the ordeal.
Lynchburg Fire said that eventually all residents were allowed back inside, but five rooms are uninhabitable due to the fire and smoke damage.
Due to the potential size of the incident, LFD says Concord Rescue Squad was called in to fill Station 2 while several of Lynchburg’s medic units were tied up at the scene of the fire.
The Lynchburg Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Moscow, ID – Sprinkler system activated for fire at theater; No injuries reported
The Moscow Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at approximately 8:00 am after reports of visible smoke and flames from the theater’s loading dock and an adjacent box truck.
The first responding officer arrived within five minutes and confirmed an active fire, with smoke and flames showing from the loading dock area and the box truck. The building’s fire alarm and sprinkler system had activated, helping to control the spread of the fire.
The first fire engine arrived within six minutes, quickly establishing a water supply and extinguishing the main body of the fire at the loading dock. Subsequent units checked for any fire extension inside the building. The investigation determined that the fire was primarily outside but smoke had entered the building. A single sprinkler head activated inside helped to keep the fire contained to the exterior.
The Idaho State Fire Marshal’s Office has been contacted to investigate the fire, as the building is located on state property. No injuries were reported, and the scene was managed with cooperation from University of Idaho staff.
Response to the incident included units from Moscow Fire, Moscow Ambulance, and Moscow Police. The fire is currently under investigation by state authorities. For further information, contact the fire administration office.
Swift Current, SK, Canada – Sprinkler system activated for fire at multi-tenant building
The Swift Current Fire Department was called into action at 8:30 p.m. as alarms were ringing on the 300 block of 2nd Avenue Northwest.
Fire crews arrived to evacuation already underway but assisted two occupants from the building to safety.
Light smoke was seen coming from the building with the sprinkler system activated.
“They’ve been shown time and time again that they’re effective and they really help contain a fire until we get there,” Swift Current Fire Department Deputy Fire Chief Dean Diguer said.
Structural and content damage was noted but Diguer chalked that up mostly to water damage, not the fire itself.
The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation.
Springfield, OR – Sprinkler system activated for fire at restaurant
A single engine was dispatched by ESF at approximately 3:40 a.m. and upon arrival crews worked to survey the building for access and signs of fire.
Fire crews entered the building, and after encountering smoke, a full fire response was requested.
ESF located a fire in the kitchen area that was slowed by an activated fire sprinkler.
Eugene Springfield Fire tells us that there was no significant damage to the structure, and crews worked to clear smoke and water while the Fire Marshal’s began their investigation.
