Sprinklers limit damage at tire distribution business (Chambersburg, PA)

No injuries occurred from a fire at a tire distribution facility on Saturday afternoon. An employee smelled smoke coming from a stack of tires that were placed floor to ceiling, and he called fire crews to the scene.

“The fire triggered the sprinkler system and did what it was designed to do,” Chambersburg Fire Department Captain Tim Ebersole said. He does not believe that work will be suspended at the business.

Over 50 customers and employees had to leave a local grocery store on Friday after a fire broke out. Sprinklers extinguish fire at Goodwill donation center (Tomball, TX)

Shortly after midnight on March 4, firefighters were called to an automatic fire alarm at a local Goodwill Donation Center. When they arrived, they found light smoke coming from one of the center’s processing workstations and a single fire sprinkler activated. Upon reviewing the surveillance footage, they discovered that a fire had begun at the workstation, with the lone sprinkler activating and putting out the flames. The fire is being ruled as accidental, and no one was injured in the incident. According to reports, the property value saved from the fire is estimated at $1.2 million.

Fire caused by unattended candle suppressed by sprinkler system (El Mirage, AZ)

A West Valley business was saved by its sprinkler system after the building caught fire early Sunday morning. Fire crews from several cities responded the fire at Party Rental near Thunderbird and El Mirage roads. Firefighters saw smoke coming from the building but the fire had mostly been extinguished by the sprinklers when they arrived on scene.”These people will be able to occupy their business Monday morning,” El Mirage Fire Chief Howard Munding said. “If there was a fire without a sprinkler, these people would be out of business.”A burning candle was identified as the cause of the fire.

Sprinkler keeps fire from spreading at supermarket (Redding, CA)

A fire which began in the dock area of a supermarket early Sunday morning activated the store’s sprinkler system. The fire was contained by the sprinkler until fire crews arrived.

Firefighters at the scene said, “The properly maintained and functioning fire sprinkler system prevented a major fire and large loss to property.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but initial reports show that it was caused by humans. There were no injuries reported.

Fire at supercenter put out by sprinkler system (Brooksville, FL)

The Brooksville Fire Department responded to a fire at the town’s Wal-mart store on the morning of Tuesday, February 11. Fire officials report that one of the store’s buffing machines was to blame for the ignition of the fire. The store’s fire sprinkler system activated and helped to put out the fire within 15 minutes. All employees and customers were able to evacuate safely.

Sprinkler helps to control arson fire at popular retail & entertainment venue (Las Vegas, NV)

A man was arrested and charged with first degree arson after allegedly setting fire to the loading dock, recycle area that services Neonopolis on the Fremont Street Experience Thursday morning. Fire dispatchers received the call at 3:09 a.m. Thursday that trash and a dumpster was on fire at the loading dock area for Neonopolis, which is a shopping mall and entertainment complex in Las Vegas, located on top of a $15 million city parking garage. After the fire started, a fire sprinkler activated and kept the fire under control until firefighters arrived on scene and put the fire completely out.  Damage was confined to the dumpster area.
