Fire sprinklers help keep hotel fire contained to laundry room (Lebec, CA)

The cause of the fire was determined to be caused by a hotel dryer fire. There were no reported injuries to hotel occupants or firefighters. “The hotel’s sprinkler and alarm systems worked perfectly,” Captain Erik Vibe told The Mountain Enterprise.

Alachua County Fire Marshal Mark Smith said the fire was caused by a pot with grease that had been put on a range to cool. The fire activated a sprinkler system, which kept the fire from causing more damage, Smith said. The fire was contained to the kitchen area. “If the sprinkler system hadn’t been installed, things would have been a lot worse,” Smith said.
