Medical facility fire stopped by fire sprinkler system (Sussex, WI)

A fire that began in a storage room at Quad Med was likely caused by the malfunction of a heating element. When fire crews arrived, the fire had been put out by the fire sprinkler system. The responding fire department reported that the fire sprinkler limited the amount of damage caused by the fire.

Single fire sprinkler stops apartment fire (Onalaska, WI)

An early morning fire brought both fire and police crews to an apartment building. Police crews helped to evacuate a woman from the building while fire crews entered the premises to put out the blaze. Firefighters found that a single fire sprinkler had put out the fire, causing minimal damage to the apartment.

Onalaska Assistant Fire Chief Troy Gudie said, “This is a perfect example of the life safety benefits of a residential sprinkler system. The single spinkler head quickly activated extingishing the fire while at the same time it activated the buildings fire alarm notifying residents to evacuate.”

Fire sprinklers limit fire damage at apartment building (Madison, WI)

A late night fire that began in the garage of an apartment building was quickly contained by two sprinkler heads located within a few feet of the car in which the fire began. According to Madison Fire Department spokesman Eric Dahl, “This contained the fire and kept it from spreading until firefighters arrived to finish extinguishing the fire.”
No injuries were reported, and once conditions were safe, all of the residents were allowed to return to their appartments.

Sprinkler system controls fire at assisted living facility (Madison, WI)

A sprinkler system at an assisted living facility kept fire damage to a minimum, with residents evacuated and no one injured, authorities reported. “This is an excellent example of how sprinklers can react quickly to save lives and reduce property damage,” said spokeswoman Bernadette Galvez in the release. Fire was confined to one room, which was kept in check by the sprinkler. The facility serves those afflicted with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

After playing in the snow, a 10-year old decided to dry his pants on top of a space heater, which was located in the garage. The pants started on fire, which activated the garage sprinkler system and kept the fire in check until firefighters arrived. Crews extinguished the fire within 5 minutes. No occupants were displaced.

A small explosion at American Packaging Corp. resulted in a fire that was extinguished by the sprinkler system. The sprinkler system contained the fire to the room where the fire started. Workers were evacuated safely from the building.

Fire at transit center extinguished by fire sprinklers (Manitowac, WI)

A fire broke out at Manitowoc’s new bus transit center Sunday afternoon. When firefighters arrived, two fire sprinkler heads were actively spraying water over a fire just outside the building’s main entrance. Fire Chief Bill Manis said the blaze shows the importance of installing fire sprinkler systems.

The La Crosse Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire at a factory overnight. Firefighters say they arrived to find one of the machines on fire inside the factory. The sprinkler system above the machine went off, assisting the fire department in containing the fire to the area. No injuries were reported.

A fire at a stainless steel and aluminum parts and products manufacturer was contained to a dust collector located outside the building, according to the Sheboygan Fire Department. Deputy Chief Charles Butler said the blaze was controlled by the building’s sprinkler system before the fire department arrived. The company’s employees evacuated immediately and there were no injuries.
