Sprinklers keep fire from spreading in UPS facility (Landover, MD)

A UPS truck caught fire inside a shipping plant on Saturday, December 7, and fire crews quickly responded to the fire call. According to the Prince George County Fire Department, the fire sprinkler system in the shipping plant, which had activated in response to the heat of the fire, helped the firefighters to get the fire extinguished quickly. There were no injuries reported.

Sprinkler systems helps control flames at industrial facility (Troy, MI)

A wall was blown out, but no injuries were reported at the scene of a fire on Thursday night.  According to a press release issued Friday, firefighters saw a portion of the rear, west side wall that appeared to have blown out from an explosion inside the building, and smoke showing. Once inside, firefighters found heavy smoke conditions, but the building’s fire sprinkler system appeared to have contained the majority of the fire. Damage was confined to the rear warehouse portion of the building. None of the nearby businesses were affected as a result of the incident.

Fire put out by sprinkler system at warehouse (Hanover, NH)

A single fire sprinkler extinguished the fire that occurred in a warehouse the morning of September 4. Fire crews came to the scene after a fire alarm notification came through a private alarm company. The fire was limited to a diesel fire pump and its electronic controls. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and there were no injuries reported.

Sprinklers aid firefighters at storage facility (Chatsworth, CA)

A fire in a Chatsworth storage facility today was put out by a sprinkler system, with help from firefighters. Two 6-by-8-foot wooden containers were reported on fire at 2:28 p.m., fire department spokesman Brian Humphrey said. “The containers were stored on tall racks and firefighters used the sprinklers to contain the fire to those crates until they could put it out,” Humphrey said.

Sprinkler activates to halt storage room fire in chemical supply building (Bristol Township, PA)

A chemical supply company had a fire erupt in it’s storage room the afternoon of July 4. The building, which was closed at the time, had a fire sprinkler system that quickly kicked in to contain the fire to the storage room. Fire crews blamed the fire on a short in the light fixture in the room, which then started the cardboard in the room on fire. No injuries were reported, and no chemicals were released.

Sprinklers stop self storage facility fire (Toms River, NJ)

When fire crews arrived to a fire at a self storage facility, they found that the flames had already been extinguished by the building’s fire sprinklers. The cause of the fire was inappropriate disposal of smoking materials.

Bureau of Fire Prevention Director James Mercready said, “A properly designed and maintained fire sprinkler system is an essential component in fire protection in both residential and commercial structures.”
