Dormitory fire halted by fire sprinklers (San Luis Obispo, CA)

A fire that broke out in a dormitory on Cal Poly’s campus is being blamed on an unattended burning candle. The dorm’s fire sprinkler system kept the fire from spreading until fire crews arrived to put out the remaining flames. No one was reported injured.

Fire sprinklers credited with saving three story apartment (Melbourne, FL)

Brevard County Fire-Rescue responded to a fire call at an apartment building late Monday, May 13 to find that the fire sprinkler system had activated and contained the blaze that had started in the kitchen of one of the residences. 

Lt. Don Slayman, spokesman for Brevard County Fire-Rescue, stated, “The fire sprinklers had been activated, and they quickly prevented any further spread of fire.”

No one was injured in the fire, and resident were able to return to their apartments shortly thereafter.

Fire sprinklers show worth in apartment fire (Normal, IL)

When a fire broke out in the kitchen of an apartment in the early evening, the fire sprinkler in the unit activated, eliminating all of the flames. The cause of the fire was oil on the stove which caught on fire as well as a nearby dish towel. No one was injured as a result of the fire.

Fire sprinklers save apartment and surrounding businesses (Harrisonburg, VA)

A kitchen fire that began in an apartment Wednesday evening was eliminated by the unit’s fire sprinkler system. According to Harrisonburg Deputy Fire Marshall Arthur Miller, “If the sprinkler system wouldn’t have been there, the consequences today would have been much more extreme. Not only in the loss of property and the interruption of business, but you’ve got fire fighters who are put in more of an extreme risk, fighting a more serious fire.”

No injuries were reported from this incident.

Amusement park fire contained by fire sprinklers (Scottsdale, AZ)

A fire that broke out in an amusement park on May 7 caused the park to be evacuated while fire sprinklers kept the fire from spreading. Fire crews arrived soon afterward to put out the remaining fire. No one was reported injured from the incident.

*** FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORTED – NO MEDIA COVERAGE *** A fire which broke out in a senior living facility on April 28 was controlled by the facility’s fire sprinkler. The cause of the fire was food cooking that was left unattended. No injuries were reported.

A fire that began in the kitchen ended soon after thanks to the home’s fire sprinklers. An unattended pot of oil that overflowed onto the burners was to blame for the fire’s outbreak, and the fire sprinkler controlled the fire until fire crews arrived. No one was hurt in the fire.

Fire sprinklers kept a kitchen fire in an upper level apartment from spreading to other apartments. By the time fire crews arrived, most of the fire was eliminated. 

Deputy Fire Marshal John Yacovino reported that the fire could have been much worse if fire sprinklers had not been present.

Fire sprinklers save multiple homes from damage (Chapel Hill, NC)

A fire that broke out in a garage of a townhouse was quickly extinguished by the home’s fire sprinkler system. The home, which is connected to several other town homes, sustained minimal fire damage. 

In a release, the fire department stated, “The presence of an automatic fire sprinkler system in this home prevented a fire in an unattended home from growing larger and causing severe damage to the owner’s home as well as the neighbors’ homes within the building.”
