Firefighters responded around 11 p.m. to a fire on the 15th floor at 1909 Rio Grande St.. They said the sprinkler system extinguished the fire, so crews helped mitigate smoke and water. The fire started after a tenant left a stove-top burner on, which ignited combustibles on the stove, according to fire officials. The displaced residents plan to stay with friends, officials said. No injuries were reported.
