Bend, OR – Sprinkler system activated for fire at clubhouse; No injuries reported

Firefighters battle a fire at Juniper Preserve Friday evening.

Redmond Fire & Rescue responded to a structure fire around 5:30 p.m.

Juniper Preserve staff quickly evacuated the building of guests.

As fire crews arrived there was visible smoke coming from the roof of the building and made a quick attack on the fire, but had to quickly evacuate the building due to the collapse of a chimney onto the roof.

The buildings fire sprinkler system was able to help keep the fire in check and crews were able to access the void areas in the roof.

We learned no one was hurt during the fire.

Officials think it possibly started when fireplace fire burned into the walls and then up into the roof.

Redmond Fire says the vaulted ceilings made it more challenging to figure out exactly the best attack.

Redmond Fire & Rescue was assisted by Bend Fire & Rescue, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and Sunriver Fire & Rescue.

South Burlington, VT – Sprinkler system activated for fire at apartment garage; No injuries reported

A car fire inside a South Burlington garage on Monday afternoon closed down a road and forced residents to evacuate an apartment complex.

The call came around 1 p.m. after fire officials were notified the sprinkler and alarm system were activated in the lower level garage at the O’Dell Apartments off Farrell Street.

It’s not clear what started the fire but smoke rose into the upper levels of the building, which forced people out for several hours.

“Obviously, since it’s chilly out, people don’t necessarily want to leave, so it took a little bit of work with help from our police officers to get everyone out of the building,” South Burlington Deputy Fire Chief Chris Corbin said.

Officials say no one was injured and the road has since reopened.

North Platte, NE – Sprinkler system activated for fire at linen company; No injuries reported

At 5:15 p.m. Saturday evening, The North Platte Fire Department received a call of a fire at Ideal Linen and Uniform.

According to battalion chief Jeff Hankla, the fire was caused by dirty and oily linens that caused a spontaneous combustion. No one was injured.

Hankla also said that the sprinkler system knocked the fire down and the department put it out. The sprinkler system also saved the frame and structure of the building as well. The fire was extinguished about 10 minutes after the dispatch received the call.

Employees who work at Ideal Linen and Uniform were allowed back into the building just after 6:30 p.m.

Fremont, CA – Sprinkler system extinguishes fire at historic carriage house building; No injuries reported

A small fire damaged the front porch area and front door of the historic Chadbourne Carriage House in Fremont on Tuesday, the Fremont Fire Department said. The noontime fire was extinguished by an automatic sprinkler system.

The fire department reports that some smoke got into the building.

There were no reports of injuries.

According to the City of Fremont, the Carriage House was once a part of the old Chadbourne Ranch. It dates back to the 19th century horse and buggy days. This house and the surrounding Williams Historical Park were donated to the City by Burdette Williams in 1960.

The park grounds are open to the public daily throughout the year.

Fremont, CA – Sprinkler system keeps fire in check at electronic recycling storage area; No injuries reported

A building’s sprinkler system activated in response to a fire in Fremont on Tuesday, keeping the fire in check until Fremont Fire Department crews arrived. Firefighters were able to fully extinguish the fire within 25 minutes of arriving at the scene.

The fire was reported at 5 p.m. at the Fremont Recycling & Transfer Station at 41149 Boyce Road. The fire was in the electronics recycling storage area.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no reports of injuries to firefighters or employees.

The fire was contained to the area of origin and operations were able to resume in the remainder of the facility.

Athens, OH – Sprinkler system contains fire at apartment complex; No injuries reported

Athens Fire Department responded to a report of smoke coming from Beasley Mills Apartments on 93 W. Union St., Saturday afternoon. 

According to AFD’s Instagram post, black smoke was coming from a window on the fourth floor, and they quickly found one of the apartments on fire. They also received reports of occupants unable to exit on the second floor.

Many residents were displaced by the damage of the fire.

AFD and the help of the sprinkler system contained the fire before it spread, and they got the tenants out of the building, along with a cat and a dog; no injuries were reported to the occupants or firefighters.

Tinley Park, IL – Sprinkler system contains fire at senior living facility

Firefighters rescued one person from a fire at a senior living facility in south suburban Tinley Park on Monday evening, according to authorities.

The fire was reported at around 5:15 p.m. at Hanover Place, 16851 S. Harlem Ave. According to authorities, the fire occurred in the living room of a first-floor unit, though a cause remained unclear late Monday.

One woman was freed by firefighters and transported to an area hospital with slight burns.

“It’s kinda scary you know… especially I just moved in… you know you thought it would never happen here,” said resident Debbie Drackley.

One resident who moved in less than two weeks ago said she was startled to hear a fire alarm while cooking dinner.

An automatic fire sprinkler system contained the fire before firefighters arrived on scene, said Tinley Park Fire Chief Steve Klotz.

“The fortunate thing is the sprinklers hold the fire in check, but the water starts getting into other units,” he said.

Four units sustained water damage and were deemed uninhabitable for the time being, authorities said.

Staff and residents had to evacuate the building, but have since been medically cleared and allowed to return.

Residents and officials say they’re thankful the fire wasn’t worse.

“Kudos to the sprinkler system for saving, obviously, the room plus many, many other lives that could have been in danger,” Klotz said.

Charlotte, NC – Sprinkler system extinguishes apartment fire; No injuries reported

Firefighters rescued two dogs from an apartment fire in north Charlotte Wednesday, officials said. 

Charlotte Fire responded to a fire at an apartment complex on Waterford Valley Circle, which is just off West W.T. Harris Boulevard and West Sugar Creek Road, around noon on Wednesday.

The fire was quickly put out by the building’s sprinkler system and no one was hurt during the incident, according to Charlotte Fire officials. Two dogs were rescued from inside the building and are expected to be OK.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. CFD posted photos and videos from the scene and there wasn’t any apparent damage to the building.

No further information was released.

Charlottetown, PE, Canada – Sprinkler system activated for fire at clinic

Health P.E.I. clinics at the Polyclinic Professional Centre in Charlottetown will remain closed on Thursday following a small fire in the cafe earlier this week. 

The Charlottetown Fire Department said it received a call just after 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The department said the fire was caused by a pot of grease sitting on a stove that was left on accidentally.

“There was smoke and flames visible in a window on the first floor and we managed to extinguish the fire fairly quickly,” said Kent Mitchell, the deputy chief.

“It wasn’t a great big fire, but it doesn’t take much of a fire to create a lot of smoke.”

This is the second day in a row that Health P.E.I.-run clinics are closed in the building. According to a news release from Health P.E.I., crews are still cleaning the area and working to remove the smell of smoke.

This means patients are being contacted about new times and locations for their appointments.

The director of community specialty services with Health P.E.I. said staff were able to get into the building after everything was extinguished to get the information they needed to continue with service.

Mitchell said there were people in the building when the fire started but they all got out when the alarm went off.

“This building had a fire alarm system, sprinkler system, so that’s all good. But in any other building we certainly encourage you make sure you test your smoke alarms,” he said.

“It’s a lesson for everybody because it’s the smoke that really causes damage not necessarily the the size of the fire.”

He estimated it could take a few days minimum to have the building all cleaned up.

Palmer, MA – Sprinkler system activated for trash fire at food distribution center; No injuries reported

The Palmer Fire Department was sent to Iberia Foods on Saturday for a trash fire.

According to the Palmer Fire Department, at 2:35 p.m., crews were sent to Iberia Foods on Wilbraham Street for a report of the water flow activation. When crews arrived, they found a pallet full of trash in flames directly below an activated sprinkler head.

The sprinkler system successfully kept the fire down and stopped it from spreading. Crews were able to put out the remaining fire. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Palmer Police and Palmer Fire Department. Three Rivers Fire, Bondsville Fire, Monson Fire, and the Palmer Police Department assisted in putting out the fire.
