According to Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Vanasse, the sprinklers put out the fire before firefighters arrived. Vanasse said the fire likely began after a pan was left on a stove, although the cause remains under investigation. The tenant may be able to stay in the apartment, depending on how fast a cleanup crew is contacted, Vanasse said.
