Crews extinguished the balance of the fire and removed the sofa from the apartment. The residents, a family with two young children, were not home at the time of the blaze, but the other residents in the complex were able to return to their apartments. “The automatic fire sprinkler system did its job, providing quick notification of the fire to the residents in the adjacent apartments, containing the fire to the living room and preventing the fire from spreading to other apartments in the building,” stated Sedona Fire District Fire Marshal Gary Johnson.
