Garbage chute fire extinguished by sprinkler system (Windsor, ON)

Windsor firefighters were kept busy across the city after two unrelated fires broke out around the same time after 11pm, Monday evening …

In the second incident, firefighters were called to 810 Ouellette for reports of smoke in the building.
Firefighters investigated smoke in the building’s garbage chute and it appears as though the fire was successfully extinguished by a sprinkler.

Fire sprinklers prove worth in multiple house fire (Carolina Forest, SC)

A fire that destroyed 26 buildings on Saturday was not able to demolish a couple of buildings that had fire sprinklers installed in them. The factors contributing to the enormity of the fire were the pine straw that surrounded all of the buildings and the high winds that evening.

Horry County Fire Chief Fred Crosby stated, “There were two buildings that had sprinklers. They were built after the fire code had changed and required it. The other buildings were built before it was required. And those two buildings are left standing.”

No injuries were reported.

Residential fire sprinklers make the difference in house fire (Tucson, AZ)

A Tucson family’s home was saved after their fire sprinkler system extinguished a fire. Drexel Heights Fire responded to the house fire around 3 Saturday afternoon. According to Tracy Koslowski with Drexel Heights Fire, the homeowners called 9-1-1 after finding their fire sprinkler system had extinguished the fire while they were away from the house. Koslowski said the family could have found the house in flames, had they not had a fire sprinkler system.

“This was a case of a fire sprinkler system doing its job,” says Battalion Chief (Murrieta, CA)

A residential fire sprinkler system made quick work of a fire at a home in Murrieta Saturday afternoon. The cause of the fire appeared to be the result of incense burning in the upstairs bedroom, Battalion Chief Steve Kean said. The resident advised Kean that he had been burning incense, but left the home for a short period of time before returning to discover the fire sprinklers had been activated. “This was a case of a fire sprinkler system doing its job,” Kean said, adding that the fire would have rapidly spread to the upper floor of the home before anyone could have noticed and called 911.
