Sprinkler system extinguishes fire at senior citizen apartment complex (Vallejo, CA)

At about 6:30 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a fire in the first level of the apartment building at 40 Valle Vista. The fire was already extinguished by the sprinkler in the apartment by the time firefighters arrived.

Firefighters say the fire started on a stove inside a third floor apartment. The emergency sprinkler system extinguished the flames before fire crews arrived. About 30 senior residents were evacuated as a precaution.

A fire broke out on the 10th floor of a senior living facility, and fire sprinklers were able to keep the flames in check. According to Salt Lake City Fire Department spokesman Jasen Asay, “The fire was … contained by the apartment’s sprinkler system until our firefighters arrived on scene and extinguished it.” No serious injuries were reported.
