Official said smoke was coming from the top of a building which led neighbors to call 911. Fire officials said that the sprinkler system went on which helped calm down the fire, but fire crews did use fire hoses. Locals said that a catalog business is located in that building and the property owner and businesses owner was on site. No one was harmed in this incident “Once the smoke gets cleared out then we will go in and make sure that the fire is completely out, there is no areas and the Fire Marshall will do their determination and figure out what caused the fire,” said Battalion Chief, Doug Wallick. This is an open investigation.

Firefighters were sent to J. Rettenmaier, 1615 Vanderbilt Ave., just before 2:30 p.m. after a fire alarm was set off at the business. According to firefighters there was light smoke coming from the building when they arrived and found an activated sprinkler. The firefighters said there was a small fire in the attic and they had to cut two holes in the roof to get to the area. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal.

A bank spokeswoman said the bank will open as usual Wednesday. The bank’s drive-up opened at 8 a.m. and its lobby will open at 8:30 a.m., she said. Karen Hakala said bank officials were thankful that no one was in the building when the fire broke out and that no one was hurt. The fire started on the third floor near a water heater, Deputy Fire Chief Shawn Neat said. Crews were called to the building on Congress Street around 2:45 a.m.

Upon arrival, fire units observed a large amount of smoke coming from the replica fire station building in the village, across from the gristmill. Once crews made entry, it was determined that the fire was actually a golf cart on fire inside and not the building itself. The building’s sprinkler system activated and kept the fire contained. It was quickly extinguished, with only smoke and water damage to the building and its contents. Brindle Ridge Fire Department responded automatic aid while Brodhead Fire Department responded mutual aid.

Amarillo Fire Department responded to 1201 S. Johnson St. at 2:07 a.m. and found a light haze surrounding the large single-story metal storage building. Fire crews entered and found a single car in the building on fire. The sprinkler system kept the fire from spreading to dozens of other vehicles, fire officials said. The fire was under control by 2:38 p.m. A representative from the wrecker service said the vehicle that caught fire was involved in a wreck earlier and was the last one brought inside before the business closed at 6 p.m. Friday. No injuries were reported. Fire damage was contained to the car. Minor heat damage was sustained to the ceiling above.

Firefighters arrived and found heavy smoke inside the building and the fire being kept confined to a clothes dryer by the activation of a single head from the buildings fire sprinkler system. Firefighters quickly extinguished the limited remaining fire which was located inside the drum of the clothes dryer with a pressurized water extinguisher. Several staff members were on scene at the time of the fire and were moving animals to a safe location as the fire department arrived. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. All animals were rescued, one dog suffered smoke inhalation and was treated by paramedics and then turned over to the veterinary staff for follow-up treatment and is doing better. Fire Investigators are on scene, the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation at the time of this press release.

The fire activated the sprinkler system, and was out by the time San Diego Fire-Rescue firefighters arrived on scene, according to spokesman Lee Swanson. Firefighters were dispatched to Petco Park at about 10:15 a.m. Two engines, one truck and a battalion chief, were sent, but the first crew to arrive cancelled some of the responding firefighters when they discovered the fire had already been extinguished, Swanson said. It was unclear which restaurant was affected, but Swanson said the San Diego County Health Department would have to re-certify the restaurant before it could serve food again. San Diego Fire-Rescue Chief Brian Fennessy tweeted photos from the scene, showing the fire had been contained to a small area. Two events were scheduled to take place at Petco Park Sunday, in advance of the Major League Baseball All-Star game on Tuesday. The All-Star Futures game was scheduled for 4 p.m., followed by a softball game at 7 p.m. featuring celebrities, athletes and former MLB players.

At 6:35 p.m. firefighters responded to an emergency call from the laundromat, located at 255 Main St., and found heavy smoke when they arrived, Assistant Fire Chief Francis DeBella said. “The sprinkler system held the fire in check, while we were able to get in there and extinguish it in about an hour,” he said. The fire originated in a dryer, DeBella said, and burned a female customer who had tried to douse the flames. The woman’s burns were minor ones, he said, and she was evaluated by the Lions Club ambulance crew. Firefighters from Bradley International Airport responded to the scene with their ladder truck, and police assisted with traffic control. The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze.

Sandusky firefighters responded to Hancock and East Water streets, near Civista Bank’s downtown branch, where they saw white smoke billowing from an elevator shaft. A ladder truck lifted several firefighters atop the structure’s roof, where they extinguished the fire. With help from an automated sprinkler system, activating before firefighters arrived, first responders quickly neutralized the situation. “The fire started when (the roofers) were trying to attach some rubber flashing around the roof so it would adhere to glue,” Sandusky fire Chief Dave Degnan said. “We’re investigating it right now, but we’re leaning toward roofers just heating up the wood and starting the fire.” The fire didn’t spread beyond the elevator shaft. People residing in an adjacent apartment, meanwhile, shouldn’t fret about their living situation, Degnan said. “I don’t believe anyone is going to be displaced,” Degnan said. Additionally, it doesn’t appear anyone sustained any injuries as a result of the fire.
Other / Not Specified, Other Business Metropolis, IL – Overnight fire at uniform business controlled with help from sprinkler system May 12, 2016 viking210 The Illinois State Fire Marshal is looking for the cause of an overnight fire at a Metropolis business. The fire alarm system at Aramark Uniform Services alerted firefighters around 2:00 a.m. to a fire at the business located at 5317 Industrial Park Drive in Metropolis. Firefighters say there was heavy smoke when they arrived on the scene, but no flames were showing. The business’ sprinkler did go off before firefighters arrived. The Metropolis Fire Department called for manpower help from Massac County and a mobile ventilation air unit to help fight the fire. Crews were able to knock down the flames quickly, and contain the fire to one area of the building. Firefighters say they don’t believe anyone was in the building when the fire broke out, and no one was hurt.
