Damage minimized at aluminum fabricator fire thanks to sprinkler system (Beloit, WI)

American Aluminum Extrusion’s sprinkler system did its job, according to Deputy Fire Chief Bruce Hedrington.  “We had smoke 60 feet above the building when we were responding, but we didn’t see any fire because the sprinkler system did its job and knocked its down,” Hedrington said. “The sprinklers usually just kept it in check, but it did a great job.”  All employees were safely evacuated before firefighters arrived.

Firefighters cite sprinklers value in factory fire (New Holland, PA)

Firefighters report that the fire at a New Holland factory could have been a lot bigger, but the building was spared by something very small – the building’s fire sprinklers. “They had a sprinkler head inside the unit itself,” said Deputy Chief Jeff Martin of the Liberty Fire Company. “It got hot enough to activate that sprinkler head so actually the sprinkler head didn’t complete out, but it controlled the fire and held it into tact until we could get into it and completely extinguish it. That goes to show you, sprinkler systems do save property and they save jobs for employees, too.”
