Parts manufacturing plant fire controlled by it’s fire sprinkler system (Cookeville, TN)

A fire broke out in a large motor that helps manufacture water heater parts, and the synthetic oil used to cool the motor then caught fire. The heat from the fire activated the plant’s fire sprinkler system, which then contained the fire until fire crews arrived and eliminated the remaining flames. No one was reported injured in the fire.

Restaurant fire extinguished by sprinklers, Reopens same day (Sevierville, TN)

A sprinkler system saved a Sevierville Red Lobster from burning down Sunday morning. According to SFD Fire Marshal Tommy White, it appeared the fire started in a pile of empty boxes and trash located inside the rear door of the restaurant. “The cause of the fire is likely improperly discarded embers from a wood-burning stove,” said Fire Marshal White. Firefighters say the overhead sprinkler quickly put out the fire. No damage was reported and the restaurant was allowed to open on Sunday.

Fire in a public housing apartment contained by sprinkler system (Jackson, TN)

An efficient sprinkler system was quick to put out a small mattress fire in one of the rooms of a public housing apartment building. “The sprinkler system saved the day,” Deputy Chief David Dillingham, of the Jackson Fire Department, said. Residents were allowed to go back to their rooms once the fire was contained and firefighters finished their inspection, about three hours later. “It’s imperative that a system comes on and puts a fire out,” he said. “With as many people on each floor of the building, without a sprinkler system, this could have been a major fire.”

Sprinkler system aids firefighters at middle school fire (Hixson, TN)

Firefighters gained access inside the building to turn off the fire alarm and noticed signs of vandalism inside the main office area. At that time, they also heard noises of doors rattling in the building and reported possible suspects inside the building. Firefighters immediately exited the building for safety reasons. Moments later, visible signs of fire were spotted at the right corner of the building. The automatic sprinkler system activated and firefighters extinguished the fire immediately, containing it to the one room.
