Sprinklers prevent damage and injury in arson fire at apartment (Salt Lake City, UT)

Police and fire crews were called to a fire at an apartment complex on Saturday at about 3 a.m. The fire was set intentionally by the resident when she set her bed on fire. The fire sprinkler in the apartment unit contained the flames. According to the Salt Lake City fire officials, the sprinklers prevented a potentially deadly situation. No injuries were reported.

Manufacturing plant fire contained by sprinklers (Salem, VA)

A machine caught on fire in a manufacturing facility on Friday night at about 10:15 p.m. No personnel were inside the building at the time of the fire, but the facility’s fire sprinkler system activated and controlled the fire until fire crews arrived in response to the fire alarm. Firefighters were able to douse the remaining flames within 15 minutes. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Sprinkler system aids firefighters at restaurant fire (Longmont, CO)

Police were alerted to the reports of an intrusion alarm being activated at a restaurant shortly before 4 a.m. Wednesday, April 30. When they arrived, they saw flames inside the building, and fire crews were dispatched. When fire crews entered the building, they found the fire sprinkler system had activated, and the firefighters put out the remaining flames. The fire did not cause any structural damage to the building, and its cause is under investigation. No injuries were reported.

Sprinkler system aids firefighters at printing company fire (Durham, NC)

Two large rolls of paper caught fire at a printing press at about midnight on April 18. Forty-one employees evacuated safely as a fire sprinkler activated on the fire. Fire crews arrived to eliminate the remaining flames. The cause of the fire appears to be to be related to the equipment in the building. There were no injuries reported.

On Monday, April 14 at 4:21 am a resident at the HUD facility, Superbia Retirement Village, had a “smoking material” fire. The fire sprinklers, which were installed in the late 1990’s, successfully activated and saved the occupant(s) lives.
