Hoover factory fire doused by fire sprinklers (Canton, OH)

Sprinklers activated and doused a fire that broke out in a Hoover, Inc. factory where sweeper bags are produced, Battalian Chief Ray Harple reported. No injuries were reported.

A fire that broke out in an assisted living room facility was controlled by a fire sprinkler. Braintree Fire Department Chief Kevin Murphy said, “The sprinkler system worked and helped extinguish the fire.”

The fire was in a paper storage area and when firefighters got to the scene the automated sprinkler system had already been activated.

Firefighters said the sprinkler system kept the fire under control until they were able to completely extinguish it.

Fire Chief David LaFountain said a working sprinkler system extinguished the fire in the first-floor dorm room and kept it from spreading to the rest of the building, known as East Quad. “What could have been a big issue is not,” LaFountain said at the scene. “We didn’t apply water to this; the sprinklers took care of it.”

After a fire broke out at Arizona State University, the fire system kicked in and put out the fire by the time the fire department arrived, Tempe fire investigator Mike Reichling told the East Valley Tribune. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was determined to be caused by a hotel dryer fire. There were no reported injuries to hotel occupants or firefighters. “The hotel’s sprinkler and alarm systems worked perfectly,” Captain Erik Vibe told The Mountain Enterprise.

An on-campus apartment cooking fire ignited in the room. The apartment’s sprinkler system turned on and put out the fire before the Baton Rouge Fire Department arrived. There were no injuries.
