Sprinklers squelch hotel clubhouse fire (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL)

Investigators are still looking into the cause of a fire which began in a hotel clubhouse on Wednesday afternoon. Fire crews arrived to the clubhouse after receiving reports of a fire; upon entering the building, they found no fire or smoke thanks to the building’s fire sprinklers, which put out the flames prior to their arrival. There were no injuries reported.

Casino fire squelched by fire sprinklers (Santa Maria, CA)

A fire which began in the cardboard baler room at the Chumash Casino and Resort on Saturday morning brought fire crews to put out the blaze. When the firefighters arrived, they found that the casino’s fire sprinkler system had activated in the cardboard baler room and had completely put the fire out. There were no injuries and only minor damage was reported.

Hotel fire held in check by sprinkler system (Concord, NC)

Concord Department of Fire and Life Safety was called to Sleep Inn Hotel on Dec. 23 at around 12:10 a.m.  Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the back of the structure. There had been a fire in the building, but the sprinkler system held the fire in check until firefighters arrived. Fire Investigators determined that the fire was started by improperly discarded smoking material. There were no injuries.

Fire at Microtel Inn & Suites controlled with help from sprinkler system (Holland, MI)

The Holland Public Safety Fire Services were dispatched at about 2:12 a.m. Saturday morning to a fire alarm at Microtel Inn & Suites. Fire personnel found smoke present on the first floor and the sprinkler system activated when they arrived. The fire was extinguished within minutes of the first arriving engines. No civilian or uniformed injuries were reported. Chris Tinney, Captain of Fire Operations, says that the buildings fire protection features and a response time of just over five minutes by fire crews, were critical in reducing property damage safety for the motels occupants. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.

Fire at Holiday Inn extinguished by sprinkler system (Raleigh, NC)

According to investigators, the fire started in a heating and air unit inside a room at the Holiday Inn at about 9 p.m.  The fire was extinguished by sprinklers in the room, officials said. No damage was caused by the fire. There were no immediate reports of injuries, and those staying at the hotel were allowed back inside shortly after the alarms were activated.

Sprinkler system puts out hotel fire (West Seneca, NY)

A fire that began in the kitchenette of one of the Staybridge Suites Buffalo the morning of October 20th caused an evacuation of 83 guests as well as hotel employees. No one was injured, thanks in part to the fire sprinkler system, which extinguished the flames. 

Seneca Fire Chief Eric Conley said, “Everybody got out safely, and that’s the important thing. The fire was put out quickly by the sprinkler system, and it was confined to the kitchen area where it started.”

Damage minimized at hotel thanks to fire sprinkler system (SeaTac, WA)

Fire crews responded to a late night call to a fire at a hotel on September 5. They arrived to find smoke that filled the laundry room on the hotel’s first floor thanks to the fire sprinkler that had contained the fire. Occupants of the hotel were able to enter back into the hotel room soon after firefighters extinguished the remaining fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
