Rancho Cucamonga, CA – (NO MEDIA COVERAGE) Single sprinkler activates to extinguish residential fire

*** NO MEDIA COVERAGE — FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORTED ** On August 5, 2016 at 3:20 p.m. Rancho Cucamonga (CA) Medic Engine 174 and Medic Truck 174 were dispatched with automatic aid resources to a reported residential structure fire in a two story single family detached home. The first arriving unit reported that a small fire had been extinguished by the activation of a single residential sprinkler. The fire was confined to the contents originally ignited. Fire, smoke, and water damage was minimal. Medic Engine 174 and Investigator 2150 shut down the sprinkler system, replaced the activated head with a new head from the spare sprinkler box, and recharged the fire sprinkler system. The Fire Inspector for the area followed up with the residents and coordinated an inspection with the Building Inspector.

Scottsdale, AZ – Parking garage fire kept in check by sprinkler system; No injuries

Shoppers at Scottsdale Fashion Square were briefly evacuated Thursday afternoon after a car caught fire in one of the shopping center’s parking garages.

The garage’s sprinkler system kept the fire under control until the Scottsdale Fire Department could arrive and fully extinguish the fire, according to Fire Department Capt. Jim Novotny.

The shopping center was re-opened. Novotny said no one was injured in the incident.

Chicago, IL – Fire at U.S. Cellular Field contained by sprinkler system hours before White Sox home opener

A firefighter was injured Friday morning when a small fire broke out at U.S. Cellular Field, just hours before the Chicago White Sox’s home opener. Fire crews were called to the South Side stadium just before 2:30 a.m. after a fire started in a first-floor storage room, officials said.

By 3 a.m. the fire was contained by the sprinkler system. One firefighter was transported to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center to treat non-life threatening injuries, according to the Chicago White Sox’s vice president of community relations Christine O’Reilly. Festivities for the team’s home opener will not be impacted.   “We’re ready to open and ready for a ballgame today,” O’Reilly said.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Bensalem, PA – (NO MEDIA COVERAGE) Two sprinklers halt car fire in parking garage

*** NO MEDIA COVERAGE — READER REPORTED ** A Sprinkler Saves reader reported that two sprinklers extinguished a car fire in the lower level parking garage of a 6 story building around 9:00 p.m. on January 20, 2016.

According to the reader, a passerby saw the fire, and called 911.

The fire company arrived on the scene within minutes, and witnessed the sprinkler heads activating and extinguishing the fire before any major damage was done.
