Winnipeg, MB, Canada – Hotel fire mostly extinguished by sprinkler system helping to limit fire damage; No injuries reported

A two-storey hotel in the 600 block of Main Street caught fire Tuesday morning, but the building’s sprinkler systems extinguished most of the flames before Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews arrived.  No damage estimates are available yet. Winnipeg, MB, Canada – Sprinklers help extinguish truck fire inside building at mushroom farm

A truck caught fire inside inside a building at the Loveday Mushroom Farms in St. Boniface early Monday morning. There were no injuries in the fire, which happened at about 1:48 a.m. at 556 Mission St.  A spokesman from the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service said a refrigeration unit caught fire on a five-ton, single-axle truck inside one of the loading bays. Continue Reading »

Winnipeg, MB, Canada – Fire in shopping mall food court extinguished by sprinkler system

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service is investigating the cause of a fire in the food court at City Place early Tuesday morning. Firefighters were called to the City Place mall at 234 Donald Street just before 1:45 a.m.  An official with the fire department said the sprinkler system had extinguished the fire before crews arrived, but there was a lot of smoke that had to be removed from the area.Continue Reading »

Steinbach, MB, Canada – Sprinklers extinguish fire in dust collection system at manufacturing facility

A fire started in the dust collection system at Loewen in Steinbach. The fire department was dispatched to the scene at 8:26 p.m. Monday evening.
