Sprinkler system suppresses fire at senior living center (Beverly Hills, MI)

A fire at a senior living complex in Beverly Hills forced the evacuation of residents early Sunday morning.  The fire was started in the kitchen.  Beverly Hills Department of Public Safety Lt. Michael Vargas stated the facilities sprinkler system was able to put out the fire.  “The suppression system extinguished the fire,” stated Vargas. “No one was hurt as a result.”

Sprinkler system keeps damage to a minimum after fire at City Hall (Fitchburg, MA)

City Hall on Main Street will be open for business as usual after a fire about 5 this morning in the Veterans Room on the first floor.  Deputy Chief John C, Curran said the cause of the fire was a problem with the heating/air conditioning unit. He said a sprinkler in the room activated and doused the fire, keeping the damage minimal.  No one was hurt.

A Palmetto man has been arrested for setting two small fires at the Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatic Center overnight, police said. Police said the fires appear to have been started with some sort of ignitable liquid, and an unidentified liquid also had been poured on several desks in the office area. But the fires set off the sprinkler system in the gymnasium.

Sprinklers allow time for successful evacuation of nursing home during fire (Attica, IN)

All of the 43 residents and three staff members were evacuated after a fire broke out in one of the rooms in the north wing, according to Attica fire Chief Ed O’Farrell. “I feel the staff took charge of the situation and collaborated well with the departments,” said Gustus, “The residents were evacuated outside, warm and secure within minutes.”
