Another apartment fire controlled by automatic sprinkler system (Hagerstown, MD)

An apartment building was evacuated Thursday night after a small fire broke out inside one of the units, according to city fire official at the scene.  Damage was minimal, and it appeared that mostly clothes were destroyed before the building’s sprinkler system extinguished the blaze.  “The sprinkler system did the job it is supposed to do tonight and this is a good reason for people to ensure that they are installed,” said Hagerstown Fire Department Captain Adam Hopkins.

A fire that began on the third floor of an apartment building Wednesday night was brought under control by the unit’s fire sprinkler before fire crews arrived.
 
Golder Ranch Fire Chief Randy Karrer said, “It is incidents such as these that highlight the importance of sprinkler systems in multi-family dwellings. Without them, the fire could have quickly spread to other units, causing greater damage and an increased threat to lives of the residents.”

Sprinkler system activates to help control parking garage fire below stores, apartments (Berkeley, CA)

Authorities closed the roadway to through-traffic Friday evening on Martin Luther King Jr. Way at University Avenue when a car fire broke out in the parking structure at Trader Joe’s in Berkeley. 
Webb said the single-alarm fire was reported at approximately 5:40 p.m. in the garage of Trader Joe’s.  The grocery store is on the first floor of a five-story building, and apartments are located above it.  Webb said the fire activated the building’s fire sprinkler system as firefighters were arriving.

Restaurant kitchen fire controlled by sprinkler system (Pacifica, CA)

A restaurant kitchen caught fire Friday morning, but damage was kept to a minimum thanks to a sprinkler system, according to fire officials.  The fire was reported around 7:25 a.m., according to the North County Fire Authority.  Firefighters found fire in the kitchen area that was being held in check by an installed sprinkler system. The fire was quickly extinguished with minimal damage and no injuries.

Sprinkler activates to control apartment hallway fire (Ypsilanti, MI)

The Ypsilanti Township Fire Department responded to anapartment hallway fire Wednesday afternoon. A light fixture in the hallway on the 4th floor of an apartment buildingin the 1500 block of East Clark Road caught fire Wednesday afternoon. The fire set off a sprinkler head located directly above it.
