A fire which started in the kitchen of a condominium was completely put out by the building’s fire sprinklers. One person was in the unit sleeping at the time, and no one was reported injured.

A fire that erupted overnight in a townhouse kitchen was quickly doused by the home’s fire sprinkler system. Maryland State Fire Marshal William E. Barnard said, “This is yet another example of the effectiveness of automatic fire sprinklers in residential occupancies. Residential fire sprinklers save lives and property. The presence of fire sprinklers undoubtedly prevented a more tragic outcome.”

Sprinklers control air conditioning unit fire at townhouse (Maple Ridge, BC)

A fire caused by an exploding air conditioning unit was quickly doused by sprinklers after its spread to a townhouse. Fire chief Dane Spence said a fireball came through a window. “The sprinkler system went off inside and kept the fire to the outside of the residence,” said Spence. No one was injured in the fire.

Investigators came to believe someone broke a window of a townhouse there and tossed an “incendiary device” inside, a police spokesman said in a statement. The device kindled a small fire, which was extinguished by the home’s sprinkler system. A man and a woman inside the home at the time of the attack were not injured, the spokesman continued. Police do not believe it was a random attack.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal is crediting a fire sprinkler system with saving a home from devastation.

Officials say a man was preparing a meal on the stove when his child was stung by an insect outside. As he attended to his child, the items on the stove burst into flames.

During the time it took to call 911, the fire sprinkler system activated and extinguished the flames before the fire department arrived. With the help of the sprinklers, the fire damages were contained to the stove and cabinets

A fire that broke out in the laundry room of a condominium was contained by the unit’s fire sprinklers. Jennifer Schulz, of the Newport Beach Fire Department, reported that the residents of the home were alerted to the fire when a smoke alarm went off and were able to escape before firefighters arrived because the fire sprinklers helped keep the fire from spreading. No injuries were reported.
