Damage minimized at fabrication plant thanks to fire sprinkler system (Mundelein, IL)

*** FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORTED – NO MEDIA COVERAGE *** A fire which broke out in a metal fabrication plant on Friday, August 16 was limited, and the credit is being given to the building’s fire sprinkler system. A spark which occurred while grinding metal ignited the exhaust system filters, and the fire sprinklers extinguished the fire. The damage was limited to some product, and employees were able to resume work the same day.

Sprinklers make the difference in manufacturing plant fire (Prescott, AZ)

When a fire broke out in a manufacturing plant the afternoon of August 13, several fire crews came out to suppress the flames. The origin of the fire was in the ventilation system behind a sanding machine, and the flames climbed up the wall to the ceiling. Two sprinkler heads activated and contained the blaze.

Fire Marshall Rick Chase said, “Without those sprinkler heads going off, it could have easily been really bad.” 

There were no injuries. 

Fire sprinklers prove worth in manufacturing fire (Caldwell, ID)

Fire crews responded to a fire at a manufacturing facility on the morning of August 8. The cause of the fire was the spontaneous combustion of flammable liquid soaked cloths in a garbage can within the facility. According to Andrew Carter of the Caldwell Fire Department, “the sprinkler system was the hero,” having kept the fire from spreading. About 200 employees went back to work shortly after the fire was extinguished by fire crews.

Laundry fire extinguished thanks to sprinkler system and firefighters (Madison, NJ)

The Pfizer offices at 5 Giralda Farms were evacuated Friday morning after a fire started in a dryer and filled part of the building with smoke, Madison’s fire chief said. The fire started in the Pfizer gym’s laundry room around 10:40 a.m. and filled the workout and adjoining areas with smoke, Fire Chief Lou DeRosa said. A sprinkler went off in the laundry room and Madison firefighters extinguished the blaze.

Fire at rug manufacturer confined by sprinkler system (Anderson, SC)

Firefighters were called to the Orian Rugs plant in Anderson County at about 6:15 AM Wednesday  after a small fire broke out, according to Anderson County Fire Chief Billy Gibson. Gibson said the plant’s sprinkler system was able to confine and help put out the fire, which was in an office near a sample room.  Firefighters believe an electrical short may have sparked the fire.  Orian Rugs is a family-owned manufacturer of rugs and was established in Anderson in 1979.

Parts manufacturing plant fire controlled by it’s fire sprinkler system (Cookeville, TN)

A fire broke out in a large motor that helps manufacture water heater parts, and the synthetic oil used to cool the motor then caught fire. The heat from the fire activated the plant’s fire sprinkler system, which then contained the fire until fire crews arrived and eliminated the remaining flames. No one was reported injured in the fire.
