Overnight restaurant fire contained with help from sprinkler system (Kentwood, MI)

Fire officials said a quick response time helped contain a kitchen fire that sparked overnight at Carrabba’s Italian Grill.  Kentwood firefighters were called to the restaurant, 4061 28th St. SE, about 2 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 28. A kitchen sprinkler kept the fire under control until crews doused the flames using hose lines, Capt. Shaun Abbey said. The blaze was contained to the kitchen.

Fire sprinklers help to contain early morning restaurant fire (Maricopa, AZ)

An assistant manager at the local Native New Yorker said she hopes the restaurant will be open later Friday after firefighters put out an early morning fire in the business’ kitchen area.  Fire investigators said the fire likely was caused by a warming pan and that flames were fed by grease on the pan. The Maricopa Fire Department was initially alerted to the fire after sprinklers were activated, according to an agency press release. No injuries were reported to citizens or fire personnel. The fire suppression and alert system performed as designed and provides an example of the effectiveness of properly installed and maintained sprinkler systems.

Sprinkler contains restaurant fire (Appleton, WI)

A fire sprinkler kept a restaurant blaze at bay Thursday morning.  At about 4:30 a.m., a fire alarm called firefighters to Pullmans restaurant in Appleton where they found smoke and a small fire in a storage room, Battalion Chief Darrel Baker, of the Appleton Fire Department, said. The fire appeared to have started in a bin of dirty uniforms, but the cause is unknown. The fire damage will not affect lunch service at the restaurant, which opens at 11 a.m., Pullmans general manager said.

Sprinkler system extinguishes fire at nightclub (Seattle, WA)

Firefighters were alerted to a fire at a nightclub at approximately 8:44 a.m. on Friday, April 18. When the fire crews entered the building, they found that the fire had been extinguished by the establishment’s fire sprinkler system. Investigators discovered a melted container that had been placed on an active stove top; the fire had then spread to boxes and garbage cans that were close to the stove. The fire sprinkler limited the fire to the kitchen area, and no injuries were reported. 

Sprinklers make the difference in restaurant fire (Plano, TX)

A fire which began in a downtown Plano, Texas restaurant early Sunday, October 13 morning was called in by a police officer who saw smoke coming from the building. 56 fire personnel arrived to the scene and were able to put the fire out within 50 minutes thanks to the restaurant’s fire sprinkler system which had already contained the fire. 

“The combination of fire sprinklers and the quick response of the firefighters made the difference in this fire,” Fire Marshal David Kerr said. “Fires occurring when businesses are closed usually have the greatest delay in reporting a fire.” 

Fire sprinklers show effectiveness in winery fire (Kenwood, CA)

On the morning of August 14, a fire broke out in a freezer located in a winery. The fire sprinkler contained the flames, leaving little fire damage, according to Fire Captain Daren Bellach. Bellach said, “The sprinklers went off and held the fire in check like they’re supposed to.”There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
