Crews were called to the Residence Inn at 227 W. Brambleton Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities say there was fire in a laundry cart on the third floor. The sprinkler system had gone off before firefighters arrived. Some guests on the second and third floors were relocated to other rooms.

Fire crews say they arrived five minutes after the call came in at 11:39am, to find smoke and heavy fire in the kitchen area. They say some of the fire was knocked down by the activation of the sprinkler system. According to the Valdosta Fire Department, the 18 firefighters who arrived were able to contain the fire to the kitchen in just 12 minutes. No injuries were reported. Firefighters believe the fire was an accident and was caused by cooking.
Restaurant, Shopping Mall Arcadia, CA – Kitchen fire at Sbarro’s Pizza extinguished by sprinkler system August 17, 2015 viking210 A kitchen fire at the Sbarro’s Pizza in the Westfield Santa Anita mall caused a temporary evacuation of the food court Thursday evening, officials said. Nearly 20 firefighters from the Arcadia and Los Angeles County fire departments responded to a call of a structure fire at 8:15 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue, fire officials said in a statement. Mall security directed firefighters to the food court, where they saw smoke and evacuated the area. Further investigation found a fire sprinkler had extinguished a blaze in the restaurant’s kitchen, officials said. The fire was limited to the immediate area and happened when combustible materials were placed on a stove, officials said. Officials estimated the fire caused approximately $25,000 in damage and no injuries were reported.

A Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue representative said the grease fire began on the first floor of the building inside the grill at Grille 401. He said firefighters could see black smoke coming from the restaurant upon arrival. “When crews arrived, they found heavy black smoke coming from the upper part of the parking garage,” Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue Capt. Greg May said. “The sprinkler heads activated like they were supposed to, but the fire got in the duct system and traveled the length of the building which is several hundred feet.” “We looked out the side window here, and it was just covered in smoke,” Britny Alexander, who was inside the building at the time, said. All 23 floors of the building were evacuated for several hours. No injuries were reported. Firefighters said Grille 401 would be closed for the remainder of the day. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

No customer were inside the building at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The incident was placed under control shortly before noon, but fire crews remain on scene. No cause for the fire has yet been determined.
Hotel / Restaurant, Restaurant Amherst, NY – Sprinkler system aids firefighters in fire at Subway restaurant in shopping plaza August 2, 2015 viking210 No one was injured in a fire that broke out inside of the Subway restaurant in at the corner of Maple Road and North Forest Thursday morning. Getzville Fire Company Chief Scott Preston said firefighters were alerted to the fire around 1 a.m. from both a Twin City Ambulance supervisor and an automatic fire alarm at PizzaWorks two doors down. Smoke filled a few stores at the Maple Forest Plaza and firefighters didn’t initially know where the fire was located. The fire was found at the Subway restaurant by a police officer. Fire crews made entry and fought back flames near the food preparation area. They were aided by the restaurant’s sprinkler system. Thanks to the quick response of firefighters and the sprinkler system, the fire did not spread to other businesses in the plaza. No one was hurt.

The fire, at 40484 Murrieta Hot Springs Road, was reported early last week around 4:45 a.m., according to the Murrieta Fire Department. It appeared to have been sparked by the deep fryer, which may have been left on overnight. A sign on the building says the restaurant is closed because of water damage. Callers to the restaurant can hear a brief phone message that says the location is closed because of a fire.

The chief said a sprinkler system probably saved the structure from more serious damage. Firefighters were on the scene for four hours making sure the flames, which had reached into the roof trusses, were fully extinguished. White Pine Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene, and Lakeway Central manned Dandridge’s station during the 10:30 a.m. call. Riley said two cooks and waitress were preparing to serve lunch when the fire started in a fryer, setting off the sprinkler system. “Everyone got out okay, but this fire spread very quickly into the attic and roof trusses,” Riley said. “The sprinkler system probably averted a major fire.” The restaurant is the only part of the resort closed temporarily, he said. Suites and other services remain open. Dandridge Firefighters used one hose to put out the fire. The building sustained minor smoke and water damage.

Firefighter Michael Williams said the police department called the fire department around 7 p.m. to report smoke coming from the Decatur Street restaurant. It was closed at the time, he said, and firefighters had to force entry into the building. They had the scene under control in 10 minutes, he said. Williams said the fire appears to have been caused by a commercial refrigerator that failed. The fire was contained to the Gazebo Cafe, he said, and the restaurant’s sprinkler system put the fire out. The New Orleans Fire Department responded to a one-alarm fire Monday (July 20) at the Gazebo Cafe in the French Quarter. The restaurant sustained mostly smoke damage, he said. In total, Williams said eight units and 22 firefighters responded. No injuries were reported.

Shortly after 4:00 a.m. someone tossed what is believed to be a Molotov cocktail into the entryway, smashing through a front door window. Firefighters said the sprinkler system quickly took care of the fire. Most of the damage was caused by water. The Montreal police arson squad has taken over the investigation. The street remained open to traffic throughout the morning. The Queue de Cheval is located at 1181 de la Montagne St. near René-Lévesque Blvd.
